Ẹ ̀gùn is a socio-spiritual experience wheredevotees of some orisas (deities) enter an altered state of consciousness and are therefore possessed by those orisas. Because this spiritual experience is also social, it usually occurs during ritual ceremonies and the elements of theatre (music, dance, space, props etc.) are observed to trigger the experience. EgunVR seeks to answer the questions, could Virtual Reality be used to stimulate ẹ ̀gùn? And could a state of ẹ ̀gùn be simulated in Virtual Reality for a user? Due to the two overarching questions, the project would be broken into two parts, the Stimulation Experience and the Simulation Experience.
