The developed prototype seeks to provide an immersive and educatory means to convey to users how the ocean is being ecologically disrupted due to climate change, overfishing, oceanic fracking, and other phenomena.
The goal of the Ecoseastem prototype is to garner interest in the project so that it might undergo further development and analyze how different oceanic biomes are being affected by humanity (at present, only a reef environment is examined).
In tandem, the fundamental question of why people feel connected to the ocean is also a goal of the project which at present, remains unanswered. It is my hope that further funding will allow oceanic communities, marine biologists, and artists to collaborate on the project, and therefore better emphasize humanity-ocean connectedness.
