Kimpa Vita and her disciples, called “angels” were thus captured, condemned by the Church [advised by the Capuchins Gallo and Lucca] for heresy and burned alive on July 2, 1706. She was barely twenty years old! That day, while burning alive at the stake, Kimpa kept repeating that the Heavens will bring another Prophet to birth and come to end slavery and save the black man. But his trial divided the Kingdom and no one wanted to take responsibility for his execution, not even King Pedro IV. The sentence pronounced was that imposed on witches: death by fire. It was performed by Capuchin monks, missionaries.
