Using Augmented Reality as a medium we explore how to encapsulate inspirations and motif’s attached to the project using Meta platforms (Instagram & Facebook). By creating a virtual AR assets for this project was to focus on projecting African design in the metaverse. By using the best possible rendering solutions and rigging technology, we were able to develop a high image and sound quality but at a low size resolution AR Effects, by understanding the limitations that exists on the platforms we creating a three part effect for public use for immersive experience of the physical product on your mobile device.
Users will be able to scan a special QR code to access the effects. Through all effects you will be able to experience different visual effects and information attached to the inspired theme. We wanted to reflect on the cultural significance that blankets have on popular African traditions and cultural ceremonies. This project was inspired by Most popular. Southern African cultural and ceremonial events, where a blanket is used as a symbol of Protection and Security. The Blanket was broken in to three themes WATER, AIR & FIRE. The water(blue) coloured blanket was inspired by Weddings, Graduations and Reunions as token of appreciation from families and friends as a customary token of appreciation.
The Air (Natural) was inspired by The popular use of White, black and/or red for initiation schools, Burial ceremonies & Child birth purposes by parents and spouses for relatives and grandparents for relatives for safe passage, comfort and protection.The Fire (Red) was inspired by the Basotho Farmers, Spiritual healers and the Masai. How the colour is closely related to spirituality and nature, mostly acquired during training, performance and travel. We wanted to portray an imagination of how the new generation of designers can use technology and clothing to convey innovation and possibilities.
