Adwoa Ankoma is the Director of Policy and Research at Electric South, where she champions Africa’s creative and tech sectors through forward-thinking research and strategic policy initiatives. A Fulbright alumna and admitted attorney, Adwoa brings a wealth of experience, from policy, research, and compliance roles at the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) to spearheading public policy initiatives for TikTok across Sub-Saharan Africa. As the founder of Creatives Represented, she has provided legal and policy advisory services to empower African artists, driven by a passion for increasing access to advocacy in the creative economy. Adwoa has also worked with Wikimedia to advance digital equity and consulted on research with Andani Africa, supporting transformation-led public policy for the creative sector. Holding an LLM from UCLA and degrees in Mathematics and Legal Theory from Rhodes University, she is dedicated to shaping impactful, tech-informed policies that support African artists and entrepreneurs.
