The New Dimensions Lab is Electric South’s flagship programme for immersive storytelling, bringing together African artists and creative technologists to experiment, collaborate and imagine new possibilities for nonfiction storytelling.
The 8th Edition of the New Dimensions Lab took place from 7–14 December 2025, bringing together 10 artists and creative technologists from across Africa for a week of workshops, masterclasses, project development and exchange with leading industry advisors.
NDL8 was a space to slow down, listen closely and rethink how nonfiction stories can be made and experienced. Through XR and emerging technologies, the cohort explored questions of memory, intimacy, culture, responsibility and representation, while developing new approaches to immersive storytelling.
Presented by Electric South and supported by Agog and the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa, NDL8 continues a decade-long commitment to supporting African artists at the forefront of immersive storytelling and creative technology.
